won't run in forward - batteries may be wrong?
I just purchased a EZ-go cart. Manuf. code is G298, so I am told it is a 1998 model.
It ran good at first, then only in reverse slower and not much power. I changed the forward reverse switch, now it does nothing. I remove all leads from batteries as they were wired in series, and tested each of the six batteries. Found them to be 12 volt batteries - one was dead. Will this have burned up motor? What do I do from here? Thanks |

well for starters, I'm guessing you will be investing in a new set of batteries. as what you have is a set of mismatched junk that whom ever you bought the cart from just put in to sell it.

Six 12V batteries in series is 72V, so you might have an extensively modified cart.
What is the make/model of the controller? If you can find the cart's serial number, you can enter it on the linked website and might find out what the cart started out as: https://shop.ezgo.com/customer-servi...ialNumber.html We might be able to help, but have to know what it is first. |

Re: won't run in forward - batteries may be wrong?
That is a stock 36V series drive controller. If it has been hit with anything resembling 72V, it is likely to be bad.
Are three of the six 12V batteries in good enough condition to connect in series for 36V? If so, you might be able to connect them that way to test the controller and rest of drive system. A 3 x 12V 36V battery pack wouldn't work very well to drive cart around, but might be good enough for testing. |
