Re: Air filter
Well Well, must be that I'm not the only dummy. Nobody seems to know.
I found out long ago you don't just go pulling twisting and tugging on things to get them apart. The air filter is really very simple as I thought it should be. For those who read this post and either didn't know or understand what I was asking. All you do is pull the yellow tab out(I knew this) Then you twist the canister left and the end comes off exposing the filter. Mine was stuck and took quite a bit of force to turn, I was afraid I would break something before I found out for sure that was the correct way to get it off. I had tried turning left, then right and pulling. I wound up using a oil filter removal tool and it turned easy with it when I was sure which way to turn it. Better be safe than sorry. |

Re: Air filter
Wasn’t sure if the earlier precedents had the Donaldson filter housing. I have a 14 with that setup and it’s cake to open it.
It’s also much more secure than the old Donaldson housings with the metal flip clip. Have one on a Ferris mower that I have to zip tie the clips down so they don’t pop open and let the filter fall out. |

Re: Air filter
Mine had not been opened in 13 years. The filter was as bad as I have ever seen.

Re: Air filter
We can't let them go that long here! Mice get in everything and if its paper they eat through it and make a nest.
A few years ago one of our maintenance guys tried to start one of the carts after it had sat for most of the winter. Sorta tried to start but then it flooded out. Opened the air box and was full of fluff, filter paper, and two dead mice. Sucked paper into the carb but luckily it got caught on the throttle plate and didn't look like it let anything get into the engine. |

Especially true of honda 4wheelers. The airbox is about 2 feet deep and the filter itself is up near the top. Lots of room in the bottom for apartment hunters |

Re: Air filter
My cart seemed to be running rich, but it ran just fine. I've not had a chance to use it yet but I suspect the raw gas smell will be gone now.
