Default Solenoid question, clicks when F or R selected

Hello, trying to get a 1999 EZGO TXT DCs cart working. When I shift into forward or reverse, my solenoid clicks. I’ve been reading the forums and everyone seems to say it should click when the pedal is depressed. Just checking to see if what I’m encountering could be one of my issues.

Thanks.

If the key is on that is correct. Look here post #5 for a diagram https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/showthread.php?t=1536

2. I’ve been reading the forums and everyone seems to say it should click when the pedal is depressed.

1. When there is battery pack voltage (38.2V when fully charged) on pins 9 & 10, the stock DCS controller is in a standby state. When the Key is on and a direction is selected, pack voltage is applied to one side of the solenoid coil and to pin-6 on the controller, waking it up. Sometimes the solenoid will click when the controller wakes up, but it shouldn't stay energized.

2. The pedal switch applies pack voltage to Pin-5, which in turn tells the controller to connect B- to the other side of the solenoid coil, energizing it.
With little exception, the pedal switch energizes and de-energizes the solenoid.

Check for voltage on Pin-5 with key ON and a direction selected.
It should only be there when the pedal is pushed.

If it is there when the pedal is not pushed, the pedal switch is bad.
If it is there only when pedal is pushed, the controller is bad.

3. What are the other issues?

My bad. He is 100% correct. I was thinking that the negative side of the solenoid went to pack negative. Nope.

Thanks for the responses! I’ll check the pin voyage and run through those tests. I’ll post my findings.
