Replacing controller with Alltrax, is this the correct one to get?
I have a 2001 48v Western (EZGo) with 2 bad controllers in a row unfortunately and I am just going to replace with an Alltrax. The second controller was a free, used one so that's most likely why it didn't work.
I should note that I'm fixing this cart to sell it and get it out of my garage. I want to fix it correctly, but I'm not going for anything fancy. The original controller that came with the cart is this: SepEx 400amp @ 48v, that I chopped up the wiring harness and replaced with a Navitas. So I was thinking this is the correct model I should get: https://www.electricmotorsport.com/a...ntrollers.html It says "USB Programming", so I shouldn't need any special cables, right? I see on this site that they're offering a "PDS Cable" for an extra $45...what is that cable for? Will the model I sent work with my cart or is there a better one? |

Bump, any ideas? Or any feedback on buying from that website?

A-Train that is the right controller if your cart is a PDS cart ( Forward / Reverse switch on the dash). The programming is done with a basic printer cable, most vendors will program the controller for you based on your needs, the PDS cable that you see for the controller is the speed sensor cable, if yours is good you don't need the new one. All of this is based on weather your cart is a PDS.

The speed sensor is an inductive one just like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071Z775QX that has a small resolution of 3.47v (foot off pedal) to 3.35v (foot on pedal). |

No it is not a PDS cart. The picture you sent shows a 24 pin main wire harness plug. Not PDS

Re: Replacing controller with Alltrax, is this the correct one to get?
Your cart uses a controller that was only used in the EZGO industrial/utility carts back in that day. It totally does not fit the name & system that would be referred to as a PDS on this site. It was just a misinterpretation on our end.
Here, PDS describes a million other 36v Sepex "regular a** ezgo carts", not the odd setup that a Western is. Getting odd configurations, using voltages that were "not the traditional", controllers that werent typically seen in the ezgo equivalent model is exactly what you should expect as a western owner. They mostly used all ezgo factory stuff (often not the motor tho), but, they got them in odd configurations that a typical ezgo buyer couldnt order on their "regular ezgo golf cart". (Like ezgo's "48v specialty vehicle/service cart" powertrain configuration on a "regular golf cart") |

Just from a quick look it appears to be a Curtis 1264. Sepex but not PDS.

Pull the one that is in there. It looks like a 1264. If so that is what you need to order.
