Re: 96 Club Car DS vs 05 EXGO TXT
Voltage vs capacity are two different things. I can wire together a bunch of AA batteries and get 48 volts. Doesn’t mean it would have enough capacity or amperage available to push a golf cart.
Kind of an extreme example but just illustrating a point. Perhaps the batteries are not a high capacity battery? Or froze during the winter? Or were discharged and stayed in a discharged state long enough to sulfate and lose capacity? Lot of variables here. Including cable condition, which creates resistance and lost energy. Even one bad battery can not only kill range, but damage the rest of the batteries in the pack as well. I’d put some time and effort into diagnosing your cart.. lot cheaper than buying a new one and inheriting someone else’s problems. Because 5-6 miles is really really bad. I did a science experiment with some 9 year old crusty old batteries a while back. 3 of them were negative voltage, all of them were empty. I was able to “restore” that pack and eventually I was able to drive that cart 4-5 miles on junk batteries. |
