04 Ezgo PDS Runs Fast Then Slows Down

The cart will run fast and then it slows down and won’t speed up again. I jacked it up and when I push the accelerator it goes fast and then kicks out and goes slow. When I unplug the ITS connector at the controller and plug it back in it goes fast and then slows down again. It will start out fast every time I unplug the connector and plug it back in. Is the problem with the ITS? I installed all new batteries yesterday and voltage is 38.8. Thanks

Does it feel like it takes off at full speed as soon as the solenoid hits? almost whiplash like?

It takes off fast and then it seems like it kicks out and it goes slow. When it’s jacked up it starts out fast and as I push the accelerator further down it kick out and slows down

One thing to check is to take the ITS out and check the back(the side with the terminals) on the bottom for hairline cracks...when they get moisture in the cracks it makes them take off full speed and cut out sometimes.. not a sure thing but cost nothing to check into just pulling the ITS...

I pulled the cover off of it but I didn’t remove it and inspect it. I think I may just order one and replace it anyway. I’ve read about the speed control on the electric motor and I’m thinking that either the ITS or the speed control is bad, maybe both. First golf cart and I’m learning as I go. Thanks for the help

no problem..dunno if I would just order one without checking it out first those things are like $200 last time I checked..One of the members on here I'm sure has a test you can run I am a Yamaha dealer so I know just enough to get me in trouble on EZ-Go's..

Problem solved. Replaced speed sensor on motor

Glad you got it worked out but as a heads up, the PDS cart has built in diagnostics. Key on, go from neutral to reverse 5 times ending at neutral. Cart will beep what chip is in it followed by any codes it sees. Then drive it and listen for more. Cycling the run tow turns it off.
