Default 2015 EZ Go RXV Died

I have a 2015 EZ Go RXV with 4 - Trojan T-1275 batteries with C8 date code (March 201.

Bought used in 2020 and it has run flawlessly. I check battery water and battery voltage every 2 weeks. Cart is charged after every use.

yesterday, riding home from our club it just died. Turned key to off and back to F and cart would move forward ever so slowly. Suddenly heard a pop. Stopped and looked under seat and a battery cap had blown off top of one of the batteries.

Neighbor helped me tow 1/2 mile to house.

Battery voltages were all 12.8 or slightly higher when I got to house and all batteries had water above plates.

Haven't tried to run cart. Headlights come on. Haven't put it on charger. There is a faint electrical smell under seat.

Called a mobile golf cart service (he won't be out till Monday) and he says batteries are bad. I have no way to load test batteries.

I don't want to damage anything by trying to operate it.

Any ideas on why it might have suddenly failed after no hint of trouble?

Thanks
Mike in Ocala

How do the batteries look? Post a picture. Are they starting to bulge out?
Call oreilys or another autoparts place, they might let you borrow a battery load tester.

Batteries are not bulging. I have a mobile golf cart service guy coming Monday afternoon to diagnose. Not sure if it is batteries, motor or controller?

Cart has been meticulously maintained as I check battery water and voltages every 2 weeks but guess I'll soon find out.
