Default DPI 48V Battery Charger Gen IV - Interstate GC8

Hey y'all,

Picked up a new-to-me Gen 4 DPI 48v charger. Read through as many forums as I could, figured out I should likely use Mode 5. Called DPI to confirm and he said "he thought" I should use Mode 4.

Now I'm at a loss, my gut tells me Mode 5. DPI tells me Mode 4. What would you experts go with if it was your cart?

Interstate M-GC8-UTL (8V)
AH @ 20: 160
RC @25: 110
Bulk Voltage per Cell = 2.47
Absorption per cell: 2.47

This to me fits best in Mode 5 in attached picture, any reason Mode 4 would be better?

Thanks again!

I would use mode 7. That one has 2.45 volts for the absorption voltage. I think mode 4 or 5 would be fine too with 2.40 volts. I would use 5 if you don't want to use 7. The only difference between 4 and 5 is the safety timers. If the charger doesn't sense that the charge is complete it will only run for a maximum amount of time. The higher the amp hour rating the longer the timer will let the charger run before cutting off.

The main thing is to be sure you have the mode you want selected correctly. The instructions aren't the best in my opinion. If you haven't used the gen IV charger before, the dip switches can be confusing. If the switches are vertical then switch 1 is the bottom switch and switch 5 is the top one. If you look on the switch, the numbers are embossed on the switch body.
