I don't think that my cart would have any problem in the situation you described, so my guess is that your current motor can probably do the job if you solve your other issues.

Once a month I check the water levels in the batteries and also put a wrench on each cable connection. Usually, I can tighten one or 2 of them a bit. If you don't do this, they will somehow work loose and you get a burned terminal. That might have been your problem, or it could have been a bad cable or something. Good luck figuring it out, and maybe you won't have to buy another motor.
That's good advice. I think it was a combination of overworking the cart in terrain I shouldn't have been in and a bad battery cable. I replaced the solenoid, the key switch, and I want ahead and replace all of my battery cables with 2 gauge cables.

In the future I will heed your advice and do a little more preventative maintenance. I'm just happy that everything is working, and I don't have to shell out $800 for a new motor.

Although, all this research has made me really WANT that motor from Plumquick, and my tax return money will be in the bank soon.....🤣🤣🤣🤣

Also know that over-tightening can cause this same melted lug issue.

The problem is that the lead is soft and the stud is actually an upside-down bolt with the hex head inside the lead. If you get too aggressive tightening it then you can shift the hex end incased inside the lead and it will make poor contact. Poor contact makes heat. Heat melts lead.

Correct torque for battery stud nuts is 95 to 105 in/lb (INCH/Pounds) or 7.9 to 8.75 ft/lb.
