DPI Accusense charger issues
My 48v Gen IV DPI Accusense charger started intermittently kicking on and off today. I tried unplugging from the wall and cart to no avail. I ended up calling DPI, they have never had the issue of a charger doing it on its own only if power has been interrupted. The charger is 4yrs old and out of warranty. They did tell me I could send it to them for diagnostics or I could order a new board and install but that might not take care of the problem.
Batteries should not be the issue as I installed new set of 8v US Batteries in my cart about 2 weeks ago and have been using cart almost daily with no issues. I guess my question is should I A -chance putting a new board in (DPI states it is plug and play, so I can do it) B -send the charger back to DPI for diagnostics C - Look for a new charger. Thanks |

Re: DPI Accusense charger issues
My opinion is that you will pay more shipping charger than the board costs...try the board. I just replaced mine on a Powerwise - $48

Re: DPI Accusense charger issues
Changing the board sounds like a good decision. Shipping is expensive and that thing is heavy. Other than a transformer and a capacitor that’s about the only option.

Re: DPI Accusense charger issues
Thanks Capt. Lenny and Bama. I can get the board for $145.00 plus shipping.
My only concern is that it doesn't solve the problem and I could have put that money towards a new charger. |

Re: DPI Accusense charger issues
Have you opened the charger? looked for a loose/corroded/broken wire or connection? Checked the power cord with an ohmmeter for a broken wire?

Check the power cord in the back of the unit. Its a computer style plug. Make sure its fully seated. Mine easily comes loose when it gets moved around.

Re: DPI Accusense charger issues
Thank everyone for responding!
I believe I found the issue this morning and it was not the charger. One of the wires in the receptacle on the cart was loose and more than likely barely making a connection when the charger was plugged in. The end of the terminal has a lip that slips over a small metal bar and keeps the wire from backing out. Once I rebent the lip and slipped it back over, keeping it in place. Thanks again! |

Re: DPI Accusense charger issues
Glad you figured it out before spending money. Loose connections are always a problem. Helps if you have a volt meter to trace things dowm.
