Default 02 Club Car DS - Convert to 48v charge port fuse ?

I am converting my DS from 36v to 48v (and going solid state). I have the Lester Summit II 1050w charger with the crowfoot plug, which my cart supported. I took the charge port off to clean and rewire and found the charge port fuse. Do I need the fuse? In ScottyB's solid state upgrade thread, he does not appear to have a fuse. if it does require a fuse, what amp do I need? Thanks!

I think those are usually 30 amp on those style receptacles.

The main reason for needing a fuse there is in case there is damage to the charge cable that causes the + and - wires to short together. Without a fuse they will just cook themselves.
Think spaghetti, but it glows red/orange.

Thanks, I would assume that I could use the 48v charge port fuse or an 30 amp ANL fuse?

I recently found out we have a fuse as well. My summit charger would not work. Fuse broke from old age. I bypassed it all together. No issue as of yet.

Many carts have no charge fuse. Ezgo went with a battery post 50a in line bolton type fuse in the 2005 & up era. You can find this fuse at any auto parts house. Remember the 48v charge amperage is lower than 36v. 48v chargers are typically maxing out at 15-17 amps where the old 36v chargers pushed 25 amps.
