Front Coil Springs / Support
97 TXT.
The front shocks make a loud clanging noise when I hit hard bumps or steep drop offs. I am assuming that noise is the shock bottoming-out. Am I wrong? Is there a coil spring that can be installed over the shocks to help with support? Thanks in advance! |

Re: Front Coil Springs / Support
Actually they make coil over front shocks, but I have never heard of adding a coil spring over the stock shock.....

Make sure the three bolts are tight on each end of both springs, at axle and floorboard.
The shocks might be compressing fully due to weak/old springs. Also, what PSI are you running in your front tires? |

Re: Front Coil Springs / Support
My front leaf springs were so worn out that the shocks were completely compressed just sitting there. I swapped the springs out and gained a good 2" on the front height. I don't know how it affected the ride as I purchased this cart a few months ago and began immediately tearing it down. But I'd imagine having bottomed-out shocks would be pretty noticeable when offroad.

Re: Front Coil Springs / Support
It helped out a lot but I still had to use a bottle jack to push the front end down enough to get the coil shocks in there. But I think that had a lot to do with the fact I couldn't get the HD coil shocks to compress at all to be able to slide them in there. But they're in, they fit and they look good so we're checking that project off the list ASAP.

Re: Front Coil Springs / Support
Is there a way to test the front leaf springs to know if they are worn out?

Also, the thing about the leaf springs was that they were still very stiff. So even though they had flattened out a lot, they still wouldn't flex hardly at all when I had the cart lifted off the ground and the suspension was hanging. |
