Default Welding on frame

I need to add a couple brackets to the frame of my 2007 pds, do I need to disconnect the electronics (to protect them) before welding, or will just switching to tow mode do the job? If disconnecting is necessary, what all needs to be done. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes. Disconnect the ground from the battery and attach the welder's ground is as close to the work area as possible.

I would unplug the controller as well, just to be safe.I've seen CDI-boxes fry even with the Ground unhooked.Hope this helps.

Flip the run/tow switch to TOW before you disconnect the battery pack, then remove both main + and - just to be safe and flip the toggle back to RUN after the battery pack has been reconnected.
