Re: Help with f/r problem
Okay. I disconnected the small blue wire at the solenoid but left the yellow attached to the other side. I have 48 volts on both small terminals AND the disconnected blue wire with the key off.
We're to from here? Key switch? I forgot to mention that the blue side of the coil also had a wire going directly to ground. |

Re: Help with f/r problem
Ok, I chanced it. Cart has reverse when switch in reverse OR forward. So reverse no matter the f/r switch position.
I'm back to thinking its something with the motor? Rrrrrrrr! About to sell this pos. |

Re: Help with f/r problem
Finally got back to this. Checked the main harness and didn't find any shorted or melted wires. Cleaned and tightened all connections. This thing still thinks its in reverse in forward or reverse. Any other ideas?

Re: Help with f/r problem
If the cart is moving backwards whether the F/R switch is in F or R, either the controller is constantly being told to be in reverse (B+ on Pin-4), or the controller is bad.
Check for voltage on Pin-4 at the DCX controller. The controller will be in reverse as long as there is voltage on that pin. (Just lift the 10-pin plug slightly and the pins can be reached with the DVM test lead) If Pin-4 has B+ on it when in F or R, remove the plug from the F/R switch from the PDS to DCX adapter. (Square four pin plug) If voltage still exists on controller Pin-4, replace the PDS to DCX adapter. |

Re: Help with f/r problem
Okay, now I'm really confused. I have 0.0 volts at the blue pin 4. That is in forward or reverse. Tracing that wire back, it goes to the small - side of the coil. It just doesn't make sense!
Should have said that I am only checking f/r with the switch and buzzer. Should I have the rear jacked up and check it with the throttle too? |

Quote:
Pin-7 Goes to the solenoid and is the fourth in from the left, next to the blank. (Pin-8 ) Pin-1 is closest to the LED, see attached picture. Pin-4 is the fourth in from the right and has an Orange wire on it on my PDS to DCX adapter, but the color scheme was different on older adapters. ---------- Either way at the moment. Once we get the beeper to sound only when F/R is in R, than try the throttle. |

Re: Help with f/r problem
I'm beginning to think he has a bad controller. Directional selector failure is a common fault in DCS stock controllers.

Re: Help with f/r problem
According to his first post in this thread, racinjason89 said: "I have a custom built 07 pds cart. I had a upgraded motor, solenoid, and a Alltrax 600 installed."
And he went on to say: "I was told the controller was bad. I finally ponied-up for another controller. After installing it, the back up buzzer is still full blast in reverse and forward. I did not try moving the cart for fear of toasting the new controller. Any thoughts?" In post #13 he said: "Ok, I chanced it. Cart has reverse when switch in reverse OR forward. So reverse no matter the f/r switch position." It sounds like he had an Alltrax DCX600 and then replaced it with an Alltrax DCX600, which did not fix the problem, so he has got (hopefully) two good controllers, or has been screwed out of a good controller. --------- B+ on pin-4 of a DCX controller, tells it to sound reverse beeper and to run motor in the reverse direction, so either the voltage is there when it shouldn't be (Cart wiring issue or maybe a bad PDS to DCX adapter), or the second controller is also bad and has the same symptoms as the first. Odds are the cart's wiring or the adapter. |
