Default all cables getting hot

I have a 1987 Eletric 4-wheel Marathon and after riding in for 20 or 30 mins, all the cables get hot and smell like something burning. What could cause this?

I have a 1987 electric cart I just bought used. After changing the silnoid it ran but wires got hot. It had a low speed coil broke grounding out. Check your coils one might be broke or touching something
