Battery config for 48volt conversion
I am potentially going to buy a 06 ezgo pds cart tomorrow and will want to go 48v right away.
I know I need a new charger, controller, and batteries. Will end up doing 2g cables at the same time. I looked through some threads but havent found exactly what I wanted so I wanted to ask in a new one. What is the best way to store the extra 2 batteries in the bagwell should I decide to go the 8x6v route? Just plunk them in the bagwell or put them in some kind of battery boxes? I will have a rear seat so they will be covered anyway. |

Re: Battery config for 48volt conversion
By shifting the controller ahead a little you can fit all 8 -6 volt batteries under the seat esp . if it is a a PDS sepex drive system , make sure to go with 6 volt not 8 volt - more amp/hrs = more run time
If you use the search button on forum there are plenty of threads of people doing this I have 8- 6 volt 260 amp/hr Crown Batteries in my 2008 PDS EZGO cart - I put a 12 volt accessories battery in the bag -well to run my winch and radio plus lights Good Luck Cheers ! |

Re: Battery config for 48volt conversion
I prefer 6/8v batteries.
The batteries fit in the original frame and weigh about 130 pounds less than 8/6v. Due to greater efficiency of 48v operation your run-time is same or greater than 6/6v |

Re: Battery config for 48volt conversion
Yup! The only reason I went with a 7th is I wanted to increase run-time significantly, not to be able to run it longer but so we don't run the batteries down as much each time we use it!
My 7th is in the tray (in a battery box) on the left side. 8-battery carts have them in both trays, and the controller relocated. I was really tempted to go with 6, 8V batteries but decided against it - this time, at least! :) ..a |
