Default Slow 1994 Marathon

Just put new batteries and f/r switch on and it was slowwwww. Batteries are charged and wiring is fine. Any help would be great. I have a dcs motor sitting around, is that compatible?

No. Marathons used Series wound motors, the DCS motor is a Shunt wound (aka Sepex).

Stock Marathons run in the 10-14 MPH range, to get then to go faster you have to up the pack voltage and/or change the final drive ratio. (Changing tire height and/or changing the differential gears, changes final drive ratio)

and or do all of the above plus put in a high speed motor and upgrade the delivery system.

so the real question is.....how fast do you want to go, and how do you use your cart? on-road, off-road, flat ground, hills, etc.......

Thanks JohnnieB. All I want it to do is move Sir Nuke.It will only go 3mph forward or reverse. I didn't try any hills because I'm afraid it won't make it back up. Thanks for the help.

If you aren't getting somewhere in the 10-14 MPH range, something is wrong with cart. (In forward, maybe half of that in reverse)

Does cart roll freely when pushed by hand? (Bad bearings, brakes dragging, etc)

If it does and as you say, the batteries, the high current cables, and the F/R switch are okay, that leaves the controller, the throttle and the motor.

Quick check: Connect a DVM between the controller's B- and M- terminals.
Should read full battery pack voltage when throttle pedal is pushed just far enough for solenoid to click.
Then should smoothly decrease to zero as pedal is slowly pushed to floor.

Let us know what you get and we'll proceed from there.

No, I put a newer used pds motor on the black cart. I have been fixing my moms cart for her which is a 1994 Marathon. Where can I get the motor rebuilt for her cart, any ideas?

Just a small lift and atv tires is the only mods.
