Re: Upgrade stock club car controller
OK, we found the difference in the controlers and why You can't use a magnet in the EXCEL DRIVE system
The IQ controler counts the MAGNET WHEEL pulses to control motor speed, while the EXCEL DRIVE SYSTEM counts the actual pulses off of the armeture from the brushes making & breaking contact, that is why You can't use the magnet to fool it like the IQ system. My guy is currently trying to write to the controller to see if he can reprogram the number of pulses it uses for 1 2 & 3 and he will also try to bypass the need for the SPEED CODE 4 that you must purchase from Club Car to do the Speed Code 4 upgrade...... I'll let y'all know of anymore progress as it is made Dale D |

Re: Upgrade stock club car controller
If someone is selling a LS3 small block rebuilt with 500 HP, and they weld a handle on it and call it a “VroomVroom Buzzer” for half the cost of a LS3 engine, I don’t give two flips where the block came from provided it’s not stolen. Plum Quick has always been top notch in my book, regardless where they get their motors. FSIP can pound sand. I’ve heard of many of their rebuilt controllers failing. I’m sure many don’t to be fair, but if they are rebuilding them they should not fail easily.
And there are many options for upgraded controllers. Anyone trying to upgrade the amperage output for speed, or attempting to gain speed via motor etc, there are many options. Most of which work well. Seems like this may be a case of “over thinking it” just a bit. |
