Default 2008 Yamaha Solenoid clicks but doesn’t move.

I have a 2008 Yamaha and when I put the cart in run the solenoid clicks. I have it in reverse so that annoying buzzer is going off. The solenoid will click and buzzer will buzz then a few seconds later the buzzer will stop and solenoid will make a little noise, but tires will not move.

Could be Motor, Controller, Solenoid probably in that order of likelyhood.

Try tapping on the motor end cap with a hammer..then repeat process of switching from tow to run and try again...If cart tries to move...problem is motor brushes, also try and push cart while in run and see if it tries to stop itself(roll-away feature)...

If you have the original stock Hitachi motor, then I would bet that it at least needs brushes and possibly more than that. Those motors are not very robust and they often overheat and fail. Unfortunately, the Moric controller (if that is what you have) isn't much better. It also fails often. I have two Yamaha carts, 2009 and 2012, and both had motor failure. I now have a D&D motor in both and an Alltrax controller (and lithium batteries) in both.

The only reason the reverse buzzer shuts up is when it doesn't have power anymore.

I would bet on a bad battery cable or bad connection on the batteries. Possibly the solenoid is not making contact inside even though it clicks.
Easy test with a voltmeter. Check pack voltage. Then check at the controller for pack voltage. Make sure pack voltage is correct. Press the pedal. If you're only getting 36v the reverse buzzer will sound and the solenoid will click, but it ain't goin anywhere. If the voltage drops off to little or nothing then start looking for a bad cable. Assuming the pack is fully charged in the first place?

To expand just a little on what Fairtax suggested: it's possible the solenoid has died and the brief reverse sounder is running off of the precharge. Before stepping on the pedal, there should be full pack voltage on the battery side of the solenoid, but slightly lower on the controller side. When you step on the pedal and the solenoid clicks the controller side should come up to the same pack voltage as the battery side.

Thank you to who responded. It was the solenoid and the cart is back running again. Thank you for your help.
