Default 2004DS IQ with High Speed Gears

I just installed high speed gears(8:1) I probably am asking for this problem because I ordered the cheapest gears I could find. More than $100 less than anyone else.

Problem: When starting to go forward I get some rough feeling(best I can explain) and when slowing down (pedal up) I get some thrashing sounds like gear backlash. I have not yet driven it far or fast.

CC says to use SAE 30W oil I suppose to get better battery life. Do you think a gear oil would help while the cheap gears break in?

Did you Set the gears? There is probably spacing tolerances needing set. It reminds me what your says of the old GM limited slips, turn a corner and you hear it binding. My old Camaro did that.

Years ago an old man told me that adjusting gears was simple. He said mim back lash that aliows the gears to turn freely all the way around. Never had a problem doing them that way.

Thanks for the suggestions.

This is a 3 piece Graziano axle, no tapered roller bearings.
Club Car manual does not talk about shimming etc except with a Kawasaki axle.

If I am missing something let me know.

This is from a post showing some pictures

Tahoe, I did some research and from what I am reading, there apparently is 2 different Graziano axles (made from 98 til present?):

That thread is talking about the axle, I would verify the axle and the gear kit to see if they are right,...
