Default surging

good afternoon folks , i have what i believe is a g8 or g9 .. i bypassed the governor on it by just running the throttle cable to the carb .. runs great at about half throttle but when i go over that it feels like the carb runs out of gas for about two seconds , then runs great again for about six seconds then feels like it runs out of gas again .. does it hot or cold . .i was gonna try a electric fuel pump but i dont know if the charging system could support the draw of the pump . its done this now for about two years and its starting to drive me crazy .. everytime i try to race my father with his electric cart i fall behind when the surge occurs .. thanx

I'm more experience with the g22 and g29 carts but I remember reading a post last week from some members here on the forums that your cart possibly has a rpm limiter in the cdi that still governs the cart even though the governor was bypassed.

Yep, that would be the G2. I think it's the ignitor that's different. You can use the G9 part.

i cant remember if i had the problem before i bypassed the governor , its weird , when it happens it almost chucks you over the steering wheel if your not ready for it . and when it does it , its like i just turn off the key for two seconds, then comes on again ... it doesn't feel like its over reving , but i could be wrong .... the sucky part is that it just really starts to get rolling then .... blaaaaa...wth...dang it.....im gonna have to get it out on the road and try to give ya more info ... thanx guys

White steering wheel/column and bright trim around the front cowl = G2.

dave , ill have to look when i get home .. i'll see if i can upload a pic also ... i was just assuming it was a g8,or g9 .. i cant find any numbers on it . when i got it , it was a wreck , i still have to re brush the starter - generator ( cranks slow even with new battery ).and it doesn't have a aircleaner . i was gonna get a aircleaner for a motorcycle that fits the carb on the cart

Air cleaner is a BIG part of your problem, they have to have a sealed air cleaner to run well. And I would suggest, using a stock unit, after market does not filter as well, and rejetting would usually be required!!

Maint. is the key to a good running car, read this site, and do all maint you can!! I consider G2-8 and 9, all the same in the running gear dept., except, G2 has a rev limiter!!

Pic of car would help a lot tho!!

My point, it still won't run with out the stock box on it. You will have to jet it, and if it won't run, how you gonna jet it?
