Top speed
Anybody ever used the roadrunner, motor on club car wanting to get the cart at a top speed as little as possible but as much speed of possible be told to try these motor and if not enough get a controller as well, thanx. If not the roadrunner what do u think would be the best wanting to go 28 mph with a 12 inch wheel and tire.

Re: Top speed
As you've indicated your looking for as much speed as cheaply as possible know that your not going to get 28 MPH from the Roadrunner Motor (24 MPH) nor is it a cheap motor either. It will cost you 5XX.00 dollars, plus shipping and you may need to send in a core or otherwise pay another 200.00
Whereas the BANDIT motor rebuild from Plum Quick can get you as much as 25 MPH for 225.00 plus shipping... http://www.plumquick.com/motors-and-...es/the-bandit/ |

Re: Top speed
I'm running 35mph on flat ground, have EMP motor, Scotty's 700 amp controller with 2g wires and 12 inch rims with 205 tires. My cart is stupid fast. But that didn't come cheap!

Re: Top speed
I'd say it depends on how fast your cart goes currently, on stock carts:
* 1996 Club Car DS 48v -- when I switched wheels from stock to 12" wheel low profile tire with no other changes -- I picked up 25% (3-4 mph) , stock curtis 225A controller/stock motor, newer 2ga cables * 1997 Club Car DS 48v -- we put a PQ bandit in with no other changes -- we picked up 25% (3-4mph) -- even with older batteries, stock curtis 300AMP controller, batter cables in need of replacement etc. You should gain 6mph (or more) with just those changes, if you have newer larger cables and a fresh set of batteries it will be more. |
