Default Turn signal rewiring

Need some wiring help. I have a club car precedent that has been wired and has the turn signal lever mounted on the column. I want to remove the column mount and wire the turn signals to operate on a toggle switch and I also want to keep the brake lights functioning. Can someone please help me with this? I am just not sure how to do this and I don't want to short anything out. I plan on just cutting the wires in half on the column side of the harness plugs. Thanks in advance for any help
