Already tried disabling the ground system on the magneto like you said even though I already had spark. Really beginning to think I got a bad carb, because it will occasionally wet foul the plug. I've waited to long to send this carb back though, and I'm super hesitant to spend another $250 on a carburetor.

Look at the fuel filter. (It is a clear one right?) See if you are getting fuel pumped into it while turning over.

Sorry for the late reply. I only get to tinker with it every once in awhile, but I changed all filters when I did the carburetor swap (habit of mine so I don't end up with issues). Fuel pump is pumping fuel and has plenty of PSI for a vacuum style pump. Decided to try another new carb because of recommendations, still no luck.

I had a similar problem with a 96. It turned out to be the ignition coil.

Check the linkage and make sure it is connected all the way to the carb. Sounds crazy but have had this happen.
