Default Adventurer One Blowing 20 amp ground fuse

Help!
This mess was dropped in my lap. All wires were disconnected as owner attempted to diagnose problem. Starter Generator was already replaced, but wired backwards - no big deal, I think. I, hopefully, reconnected everything correctly. Unfortunately, the black lead from battery negative (with the fuse in line), was an unknown. I taped it off. Cart ran fine for some time next day, but then blew the 20amp fuse. I traced the battery ground wire and attached it to the back plane holding the VR and solenoid. Nothing. The instant the accelerator is depressed, the fuse blows. I do know that the original solenoid was replaced with a 'key' switched solenoid instead of an internally switched one. This means that while the cart was running, the solenoid was energized. Don't want to start blindly swapping expensive parts. Any suggestions? Thanks

Where did the starter/generator come from? I have had lots of trouble with aftermarket ones. They will "work" when powered up on the bench, but have a internal short to the case which blows fuses. Try pulling the lead from the solenoid to the starter/generator, and see if it will click the solenoid w/o blowing fuses.

Thanks. I may have found part of the problem. The lead containing the fuse was not connected. Everything that I read says do not connect ground to frame. Where does this lead connect?
