G1 Running rough after new piston
I installed a new piston and rings last night. I put everything back together and it ran great. Compression was about 110psi. The kids drove all over the yard. I pulled it in the barn and this morning it ran rough. It starts out smooth and then spits and sputters at top end. It seems to run hot too. I pulled the plug and it looks good. The piston kit was .20 over, all new gaskets and installed a new air cleaner and that was it. Not sure what could have changed over night. Any ideas on where to start?

Re: G1 Running rough after new piston
If you ran a thick premix to break everything in it could be a fouled plug I'd start there and throw the compression gauge on it again.. does fulling the choke out make it run different? did you do crank seals when you did the top end?

Re: G1 Running rough after new piston
Somewhat sounds like you might be starving for gas once the motor gets humming. You may want to try adjusting your mix screw on the carb as well. It could be set too lean for your new set up. Perhaps raise the carb's float just a bit to make sure it's not emptying out when the cart is drawing a lot of gas.
