G16 Project
My wife and I picked up a Yamaha g16 for $500 about two months ago . Man , i would have left it with them if I hadn’t drove 2 1/2 hours to look at it . All tires were flat , seats rotted , and the top had just been tossed on there. The guy said it ran last time , but that was a year ago . My wife wanted it so bad ! Lol We drug the cart on a trailer and headed home . The motor was locked up . I asked y’all for advice and jumped on it . Broke exhaust valve and cracked piston was the problem. I found a rebuild kit for $300 and now I have a fresh motor . My wife and I tore the cart down , painted the frame , body , and top over the last couple of weeks.

Re: G16 Project
I used duplicolor rust barrier on the frame . Body adhesive, krylon colormaster on the body and top with self etching primer on aluminum.

Re: G16 Project
I just happen to live near TNT and got a deal on a Jakes 5 inch lift kit they had in the back for years . I also picked up some 22/11/10 predators for a great deal there . My wife and I spend all day Two weeks ago putting the lift kit on . The driver side a frame was a pain to put on for some reason . The king pin on that side was a bear to beat out also . The stock a frame on the passenger side wouldn’t come out . One bolt was seized good . I pb blasted , put a torch on it , the finally just cut it out with a saws all . Luckily I also live 5 minutes from a Harbor Freight too . That king pin popped out much easier and the jake arm slid right in . The back was a piece of cake . I swapped out my stock rear springs with McMaster springs y’all suggested .

Re: G16 Project
Everything was going good on the project until Saturday. I tossed the motor back in the cart and realized I screwed up . I accidentally hauled my perfectly good muffler off with all the rattle cans and junklenty to the landfill . After kicking myself for an hour or so , we ordered another stock. Anyway , the motor fired right up . I only ran it for a minute or so . We put the deluxe light kit on Sunday. Hopefully, this weekend I will test driving it through the neighborhood. I still have to cut new wood for the seats and recover them . I have to get a broken bolt out the front to put the cover back on . I’m planning on breaking in the motor nice and easy for a few weeks . Then , Yamaha speed spring , clutch spring , carb jet , and air box mod . It’s been a busy and aggravating project for the last couple of months , but worth it . My wife helped me the whole way . She learned a lot , we drank plenty of beer , and I realized how lucky I am to have a cool wife . All in the cart cost $2000 . That’s a deal for what they going for now
