That would be the spark plug.

My G9 has a ground wire with a ring terminal that mounts through the bolt on the mounting tabs for it, becuase it mounts into the plastic engine cover.

Ok. That's what I was wondering. The body of my coil was not grounded so I ran a wire with a ring terminal to the battery and the coil started firing. I couldn't see any wire going to the coil. I'll see if I can find a broken wire.

Now im really confused. I cannot find any ring terminal or wire that would hook to the ignition coil on my G8.

The wiring diagram for a G9 shows a ground and ring terminal at the coil.

The diagram for a G8 does not show this wire. Leading me to believe the coil is not supposed to be grounded.

If anyone owns a g8 or g14, would love to know if the body of your coil is grounded.

You are spot on. The g8 diagram shows the spark going through the case, as it should, via a ground. Same thing with the g9. The ground you have circled in the g9 diagram illustrates a system ground and not one that is specific to the coil. The g8 doesnt have that.

Ok. So you're saying that circled wire, with the little circle in the middle of the wire, is not the ring terminal that CP241 was talking about on his G9 coil? If not, what is that little circle?
