Default 04 Carryall Governor adjustment/ smoke

So I picked up an 04 Carryall Turf 2. This thing flies, when compared to our 00 DS. They guy knew someone had bent the governor arm, and he had tried to adjust it a bit, but couldn't get it right. I have tried moving it around, and have 2 choices:

An on-and-off throttle switch, or a slow, delayed start (a second or so before the starter turns), and a slow pull up to what sounds like half throttle, then it takes off like a 2 stroke MX bike just hitting it's powerband. Either one, it still can rev out too far...

It scared me on the first run up the driveway, everything was telling me "it's revving too high". It was, it loaded up the head with oil, and smoked pretty bad. it came out of it, and we got it figured out, not to do that again.

So I guess my question is: How do you get the governor back to stock settings? I can see where it would be straight again, but it would need some serious cable adjustments..etc... I don't want to have to worry everytime we take it out, that it's going to overrev again. I can feel when it is, but I'm not sure if my Wife, or anybody else that would drive it would know what to listen for, or care, for that matter...

Aha.... Thank you Sir. While it is really fun to outrun my Wife's lifted DS as easy as I can right now, I don't want to kill it... Commencing governor adjustment.

Also will it idle? If not you need to adjust that first.

It will idle, but if the arm is bent to where it was when I bought it, it takes off like a drag car, right off idle. On and off throttle.

Where I have it now, you can drive it slow, without surging too bad. But it still goes way faster than it should.. It's fun, but too tempting...
