FE350 Cam Gear Failure
Hi Guys,
I have a 2006 Club car with a FE350 without ACR. There were a few issues that required the motor to be pulled. After removing the crankcase I noticed 2 of the 4 rivets that attach the nylon cam gear to the camshaft were laying under the oil screen. I've inspected the cam gear and there is no damage so I believe I just need to put 2 rivets back in and it'll be good. Does anyone know the size of rivets needed for this? I can probably guesstimate the size but wondered if anyone who has riveted the cam gear back on to the shaft could let me know the size of rivets they used. Thanks in advance, |

Re: FE350 Cam Gear Failure
Yep, that’s a somewhat common issue on those. Don’t know what size they are but you need to replace those with steel rivets. Replace the two that are broken first, and then drill out the two that remain and replace those as well.
Measure the size of the holes with a micrometer and use the closest size below that measurement. Also be sure to note what type of rivets they are. |
