Default 2012 Precedent drive belt

My belt is slipping, and on inspection it looks loose. I've searched you tube, but most of the info is on a DS.

How do you get to it to tighten it?

Another question on the governor. Which way do you turn the pin to slow it down? The guy on you tube said to the right, but also said that was counter clockwise. I thought left was counter clockwise.

Thanks for any replies.

You don’t tighten it.
Look at how the belt sits in the secondary clutch. If it’s sitting down between the sheaves and the top of the belt is below the outer edges of the clutch it needs to be replaced.
A new belt should sit up about 1/16-1/8” higher than the outer edge of the clutch.

It should be the same belt as the DS. Check with David at Revolution Golf Cars for the heavy duty version and that will make a world of difference.

Most people put a zip tie on the governor spring. Check that on the right side of the governor arm. If it has a zip tie remove it and see how it does.

If no zip tie then check how soon the throttle opens on the carb when you push the pedal. You should hear the switch in the throttle click before the throttle plate on the carb starts to open. On the precedent there is an adjuster under the floor mat to tighten the throttle cable, if it has been adjusted tighter the throttle will start to pull open before the switch clicks. If that’s the case, Back off the adjustment a little at a time until you get the desired top speed.

Thanks for the detailed response. There are no zip ties, and it doesn't look like the floor has been pulled up. I will go listen for the click in a bit.

I may have called the belt the wrong one. It slips on starting up.

Thanks for your time, there's not a ton of info out there on these.

There is no click. It starts as soon as you hit the pedal. It looks like I need to tear the mat to get it up, so I'm not sure anyone has been in there.
