Re: 4 ga wire
Keep in mind if your cart is stock and is going to remain stock, then there is no need to go to #4 cable. Just replace everything with whatever is there.

I have been mechanicing for 50 years and have never seen a system like that. I love it!! What was the brand name of the system and where did you get it?? Turned the big 70 yesterday.

Re: 4 ga wire
Has anyone tried using a standard 4 guage cable from the hardware store (not welding cable)?

Re: 4 ga wire
You can try here for materials:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-sponsors.php or Here's where I got #4 welding cable. Comes in black or red. Contact him and he'll do 25 feet (about $38 shipped): http://cgi.ebay.com/100-4-gauge-WELD...d=p3286.c0.m14 Liquid electrical tape: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Liqui...d=p3911.c0.m14 CL-Flux: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CL-Fl...d=p3911.c0.m14 Solder pellets: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Solde...d=p3911.c0.m14 #4x5/16 tinned lugs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-AWG...d=p3911.c0.m14 The last three are from the same vendor with free ship. I'm sure you can find alternative sources, but the prices are pretty decent. Like I said, I'm into mine for about a buck ten. I probably could have saved a few dollars, but I chose to do an extra cable for testing. |

Re: 4 ga wire
steve79,
Was there any brand name on any of the stuff specifically the pellets? It is hard being a 18 year old in a 70 year old body I got the rear and side Lexan enclosure finished last night. Turned out pretty well. I,ll post a picture later. It should stop some of the chilly winds we have here and all the Vinyl enclosures I have seen were ugly. My '92 looks very similar to the cart in your avatar except for the color. I am now impatiently waiting for the brown truck to bring my Alltrax AXE 4844 and Discount Tire to get in my 20"X10"X8" tires. Jim |

Re: 4 ga wire
gark,
The big advantage to using welding cable rather than the hardware store stuff is flexibility. Welding cable has hundreds of tiny copper strands and the hardware store has a few heavy strands. It would be much harder to install the stiff stuff. Jim |

Re: 4 ga wire
The weld wire seems to make a much better solder connection due to the number of smaller wires. It also appears to have a much tougher rubber coating.
