so if i get 17s to fit a civic will it bolt directly to the cart? civics are 4x100 lug pattern and the cart is a 4 on 4 lug pattern and that is 4x100 right??

No, but it's close enough for some folks. Just not close enough for me.

Sounds like more hassle then what it's worth, I might just stick with 12"or even try to get a set of 14". Even though I love the look of big wheels on these things

There is no hassle at all. 2" spacers will work on front wheel drive wheels like honda civics. with a 4" lift, i stuffed some 20" wheels under the cart. The tires were 25.3" tall. If you have fender flares in the rear, You would need 5" spacers for the rear and 3" for the front to make the tires flush with the fender flares. I built many like this. Im building another as we speak with 18" wheels. The lug pattern is 4x4 or the same as 4x100mm

Basic lift kit will cost $200-$300. You could spend up to $1000, depends on how kick a$$ you want to go....although I wouldn't see a need for a complete long travel set up with huge car rims.

I found a set of 18" wheels and tires on craigslist for $300 and my cart was already lifted. The spacers are $150 for the set of 4. Not bad for a total of $450 to run the big wheels!
