Default Battery light keeps going on and off

Whether the key is on/off or I'm driving the battery light keeps turning on and off evey few minutes. Also, when I plug it in to charge, after about 5min the breaker on the charger trips. I checked the volts at 48 yesterday. Any thoughts? It is a 97 CC BTW

there has to be a reason the breaker is tripping and with the light flashing on and off its telling you something.....start with basics if its only 48 volts the batteries are just about dead............so check all your cables and get a volt meter to check batteries and load test them, check cells with a hydrometer and if you can borrow a charger and see if it also trips after a while.........we can go from there..........................

im with shadowman here... the batteries are likely on their way out.

also, once the breaker is tripped once or twice it will become weak from carbon buildup. you can open the breaker up and clean the contacts (dremel with brass wheel, denatured alcohol, etc.) its possible this is the root of your problem, but i would put my money on failing batteries.
