Is there anyway to test a coil? Also I've got a 74 early bronco that was doing the samething my cart is, we put an external resister/regulator on the coil to control the voltage. It solved my bronco problem totally, is there a such thing for a cart?

you can test a coil by testing ohms across the + and - posts, stock EZGO averages 4.5, most aftermarkets are between 3-4 (a bad coil will generally be "open" and read zero)

Exclamation Re: 89 2 stroke ignition

ok I went to parts house and tried to get a 76 GM coil for a 350cc and it didn't look anything like the one in the picture. The parts house guy allowed me to try an universal 12 volt coil with the option to bring back if it didn't work. I mounted it to the rear of the cart and it runs like a top. I haven't had a chance to put it on the course yet, but I did run it up and down the road for 7-10 minutes got out let it sit for 2 minutes and it fired right up. I'm hoping the problem is fixed!!
