White smoke on steep incline?
I just installed a 1" shorter belt on my lifted 07 gas ezgo. The belt did wonders to the bottom end and I love it. To test it out I went to a steep hill that the cart would not climb before and began to climb it during the steepest part the front end began to bounce off the ground and white smoke, oil is what I thought of, began to pour out of my exhaust. Scared me to death because I thought I had damaged the engine. I turned around and went back to level ground and it quit. Runs fine, never ran bad when it was smoking. just smoked bad. Oil level is fine. ????

Yes it is lifted. COuld this harm anything? My reason for the shorter belt was a planned trip to the N Ga mountians on ATV trails.

Re: White smoke on steep incline?
Oil got sucked into the combustion chamber somehow. It is possible that it was too full especially if it was lifted. When the cart gets a lift it changes the angle of the engine making the full mark on the dipstick give you an over full reading. I've had it happen before. No biggie..

Re: White smoke on steep incline?
Thanks, My dip stick didn't change after the lift, I expected it to but it did not. So What I'm hearing is not to worry about the smoke, I had really planned to use it in the Mountains, I've gotten to old to back pack so I planned to pile everything on the cart and accomplish the same thing. Thanks guy's, this is a great site. Were it not for the feedback I would not know where to turn.

Re: White smoke on steep incline?
Most of the time on a lift, the engine gets tilted toward the rear of the cart. This causes the oil in the crankcase to puddle in the back which will make the level on the dipstick look low because the engine is not sitting level. In most cases, owners will fill the crankcase until it reaches the full mark on the dipstick which is overfilling the case.
