Default Excessive play in the sterring

I have a lot of slop in my rack and pinion sterring. Can it be fixed with out replacing the whole sterring rack?

Yes you can replace parts in your steering. Get someone to move the steering wheel for you and look and see what is moving.

All of the linkage from the wheel hubs to the arm out of the rack and pinion are tight. The play seems to be in the rack and pinon assembly. I can literally turn the steering wheel five inches before the front tires start to move. Do you know where I can find a drawing with part numbers for the steering rack?

I'm not sure where to find any pictures but if you check with any of the site sponsors, I'm sure they can point you in the right direction with what you will need.

I'm also new here, just bought my first cart. My steering was very sloppy. I checked all the tie rods, etc. Then adjusted the wheel alignment. I did one step at a time and the alignment is the thing that fixed it. There is still a little play in the steering, but it stays on a straight line now, so I don't even notice the play anymore.
