36v to 48v conversion charging

My 1994 series v-glide 48v conversion is moving right along...

How did you that have made the conversion modified your charger connection?

Is there a 48v plug to crows feet conversion plug or did you install a 1995 and up 48v charging receptacle?

If you updated your receptacle, was the wiring the same?

A guy in san Diego took my 36 in on trade toward the 48.. 100.00 later, I have a new charger ... With the 3 prong...

I don't mind making mods. I just need to know which is the best route.

get yourself the right receptical for the 48 volt charger.....sounds like your doing everything right so don,t stop now, i don,t know how everyone does their conversion but when i did mine i went as far as even putting an OBC in it..................................

I may be mistaken, but isnt the 3rd prong specific to OBC? I merely added voltage and voltage handleing to a system that works.

I noticed on the 95+ diagram that power goes into the obc after the fused receptacle.
Whether or not its directly from the third prong is unknown to me.

Is it possible to replace the 3prong with a new crows foot so I can use my current receptacle? Anyone?

Just took the 3 prong plug apart to find that the wire from the charger is 2 conductor. It appears I can replace it with a crowfoot. Ordering one now.

yes it is but theres a small block you can run the wire to so you can get past it..............................

So Im curious on this as well. I am doing the same conversion. I would like to use the 48 volt 3 prong charger because I dont want someone accidentally charging my cart with a 36v crows feet charger.

But youre right, that 3rd wire goes to the OBC, which I wont be using...but does that 3rd wire send a message back to the charger?

Can I simply install it and disregard the 3rd wire on the back side of the receptacle?
