Default Intermitant Spark

1994 TXT gas cart. I had a dead coil so I replaced it with a new one. Had great spark on one plug and nothing on the other plug. Sent that coil back and the supplier replaced it with another. Cart started up and ran fine but I did notice the one side of the coil had stronger spark than the other (weak side was same side as dead side of 1st new coil). One week later I start it up and bingo. no spark on one side of coil. Same side as last one. Am I into a bad batch of coils or am I doing somehting wrong? Looks like if one side fires they both should fire. I have a old Harley coil that is the same set-up. Think it would hurt if I gave it a try?
Also what is the HEI conversion that I see people writing about?
Thanks Jerry

An HEI ignition module is a cheap and reliable replacement for a failing stock ignitor.

Single cylinder engines can get a stronger spark by also swapping in an HEI coil.

The coil swap is optional- the ignition module swap was the biggest benefit for me.

Check the spark plug wires and spark plugs (reverse them) and see if the spark problem follows a particular wire/plug.
