Default 89 marathon 3pg top end rebuild

i guess its time to rebuild the top end of my motor, im going to order the kit i can not find the torque specs for the head. i have never done this before how much of a job is it .

The first question is why? If the answer is because it runs bad or doesn't start too well then it might not need a rebuild, it might just be a blocked muffler or worn seals. If the answer is because the compression ratio is 80psi then you need a rebuild. However before you start how about the bottom end? It would be sad to rebuild the top only to blow out the main bearings next month, so grab hold of the drive clutch and try to lift the engine up and down. If you feel the slightest movement of the crankshaft with relation to the crankcase then you need to also look at the bottom end.

The rebuild job is not difficult and if you go to youtube and search donyboy73 you will find a series of videos on rebuilding the 2PG which is close enough to your engine. The head should be torqued to 24 foot lbs.

i guess i got the wrong piston, piston wont fit down over the rod . that sucks
guess ill call buggies unlimited wensday
