I just pulled the motor out to get the clutch off, to get the timing cover off. the timing is 3 teeth off. How is this possible?? Belt is pefectly tight and in tact. Should I time it correctly and give it a shot? Could this be why gas is blowing back through the carb? if so why all of a sudden? I also checked the carb and it is in perfect working order...

Yes, cam timing will be an issue, but low compression is a problem.

That's an odd one If you have it out I'd pull the head and make sure the piston's didn't hit the valves... just go through it while ya have the chance..

Yeah I plan on pulling the head and checking the pistons,valves etc...
