Default Fuel Gauge Float Sunk

I bought a new fuel gauge cap for my '87 EZ GO and the float sank after 3 weeks. Called up the vendor and they sent me a new one out free of any charges.

I have no reason to believe that this one will last any longer than the previous one. Is there anything I can coat the float with to prevent this?

Here is the cap I purchased:

Thanks, Jeff

STRANGE wouldn't have any idea on this one. Did the float just absorb the fuel ?? Hope some one has an answer for this one. Good Luck

Not sure what it's made of. Since everyone seems surprised at this maybe I just got a bad one. If no one else has seen a problem with these I guess I'll stick this one in and see what happens.

Thanks, Jeff

I ordered 2 of those for my 88. The first jammed up, the second has worked fine ever since. And I could probably fix the first. I think it got bent at some point.

Well the other one they sent me worked fine all summer until last weekend. It has sunk also. Where are you guys buying yours?

I premix my fuel, is the oil causing a problem? I doubt it because everybody here mixes there's too. I am lost and gun shy now.

Regards, Jeff
