Default Kerosine in Gas Engine

My son accidentally poured kerosine in the gas tank of our 93 Textron EZGO gas golf cart and now it wont run. The engine wont even turn over. Is there anything that can be done and will the engine ever run again?

If it has a bowl type carb, remove the bowl to empty out the kerosene. Remove spark plug, put a couple of teaspoons of gas in cyl and crank it over w/o spark plug. This should thin out any kerosene in combustion chamber. Install new spark plug and try to start it. I doubt anything was hurt except the spark plug. Also drain tank and replace with fresh gas .

- i would also remove the fuel line to the carb, before you try to start the motor after you clean all the kerosine out, after every thing is clean and new gas in the tank, turn the motor over and over with out the gas line hooked up to the carb so you can pump out all the kerosine that was in the lines and the fuel pump, when nice clean gas comes out of the fuel line going to the carb, then reconnect the fuel line back to the carb and try to crank the motor, and then i would label the cans, Gas and kerosine so it don't happen again

Hi
I noticed that you said the engine will not turn over. If it is indeed froze up I would pull the plug and spray quite a bit of WD40 into the cylinder and let set overnight. If you can get to the drive pulley after setting overnight try to get the engine freed up. Once you get it freed up drain and change the oil and then after following the other suggetions given here on this forum try to start it. You have to get all traces of the kerosene out of the lines. If it starts it should be fine. Watch oil consumpton as you may have damaged the rings and/or cylinder wall. Hope this helps.

Kerosene in the gas tank should not freeze up the motor a long as it still has oil - but it won't run on it worth a crap. Clean out the fuel system and it should be ok.

All of the above, but make your son do it.
