Default Timing

My 1979 ez-go timing. 1st of I have removed the flywheel to put new brushes in. While I waiting for brushes to come I decided to check timing. The cart run good in both reverse and forward. According to the manual my timing is way off, more so cw than ccw. Also points are way off. Manual says .013 for used points and mine are .020. Since it run so good I am wondering if I should change it or not. I always hear if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well it certainly ain't broke

Keep in mind when you change the points setting it changes timing, maybe that's all you need.

Yes, changing points will change timing. If I close points a little going cw it will cause spark a little earlier. Going ccw will do the same. so wouldn't I still have cw and ccw not the same, one off more than the other?
