Ezgo gas 295cc 1992 low compression
Hi there I have a 1992 ezgo 295cc gas golf cart did a compression test today I have 120 and 95 psi. I would assume I need to rebuild it just looking for info on how todo so and where to find good parts . Also will I need new pistons as well as rings or can I get by by just putting new rings in it . Thank you for your time

Re: Ezgo gas 295cc 1992 low compression
Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!! |

I think I would adjust the valves and check it then.

Re: Ezgo gas 295cc 1992 low compression
A really easy test is to measure the compression and note the numbers. Now add about a tablespoon of oil into a spark plug hole and test again. If you have a worn bore the oil will help to seal it and increase the compression ratio. If the reading does not increase then the problem is with your top end in the form of cylinder head gasket or valves.
If you have worn rings / bore it is best to have the cylinder re-bored. Just replacing the rings will not do very much for you. Dave |
