The G1 has been running since 2006 this way with no issues to the starter/generator.

I've had mine close to 7k several times with no issues. Probably if the rpm's were over 5k for long periods of time I'd suppose you might have some issues. Lot's of guys here drive their carts on the road/campgrounds and cruise around above 4k and most of these starter/gens are the same or very similar. The two I have are made by Hitachi and are almost identical, from two different carts and different years. I suppose that eventually they may fail, but I wouldn't make that a concern to try to address...... I mean you could always upgrade to a clone or vanguard and not worry about it.
