need electric schematics for 89 ezgo marathon

I'm still having hard start issues with my cart. While checking forward/reverse box, I noticed that the fuse holder on it had no positive wire attached. It had long ago broken off. What I want to know is what is it's function and could it not being connected be part of my hard start problem. I also have to have my choke out full to get it to run no matter how much I increase the fuel mixture. I think I have some fuel pressure issues as well. The fuel pump is new. I get fuel squirting from it when I disconnect the fuel line and turn the engine over. I have not checked the seals. I have gone around and tightened bolts. It tends to start a little more quickly in reverse than in forward. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. P.S. once it starts, it runs great until you slow down, then it goes right back to the beginning and just sits there and putts away for a minute or two before starting and running again.
