Re: Camp Project "Got Milk"
I think I would replace the ramp shoes on the helix, maybe a new helix too.

Re: Camp Project "Got Milk"
Definitely in need of new shoes I agree while its apart. I think the reasoning for the worn metal is due to the spring being dislodged from the anchor holes. Not sure how to best explain this but I basically think this thing jumped teeth and was operating on the non-shoe side (not sure if this is possible?). So we might be able to save the helix part, but the inner sheave ramps are ruined from the metals grinding.

Re: Camp Project "Got Milk"
Got more done, but no pictures to prove it.
Cleaned out the rear pumpkin which all looked good. Scraped off the gobs of blue RTV on the cover and replaced with form-a-gasket. 85w-90 gear oil added and plugged. Also removed the 2 crank seals in preparation for new installs. The crank bearings seem to be in very good shape, nice and clean with no grinding or roughness throughout rotation. |

Re: Camp Project "Got Milk"
Currently at a standstill waiting for parts. Hopefully this Project will get started back up the week after Christmas.
In the meantime we started cleaning up the 2pg out of the Marathon. The new jug, piston and rings came in the other day. We scraped the mud from the crank case and cleaned it out the best we could. Will try and throw some pictures in soon. |

Re: Camp Project "Got Milk"
Tried my hand at a hone and it came out ok. Really wish I could get a better cross hatch but the angle seems right.
Got a slew of OEM parts ordered for this. Now the waiting game. |
