18 in tires with 4 inch lift, club car precedent
I'm trying to get an idea if this would work. I like the look of a more open wheel well and the allowance for more travel in the suspension since my cart rarely sees anything better than a dirt road. Problem is all the pictures I see of lifts tend to have the maximum possible tire filling the wheel well. Has anyone done a 4 in lift with 18 inch tires? If so how does it look? Does it look more like a long throw suspension or do the tire just look too small for the cart?

Sound like I'm going to need some good hydraulics and switches.

Here's what my 1987 Club Car looked like with a 6" lift and the stock 18" tires before I put on the 22.5" tires.

Golf cart suspensions don’t flex like say a Jeep. You don’t need anywhere near that much room in the wheel well regardless of where you drive to keep from rubbing. Now if you just like the look of a huge wheel well gap, that’s different and nothing wrong if that’s the look you like.
Here is mine with a 3” lift and 22” tires. I have 4.5” from the top of the rear tire to the body. All I ride is off-road around a farm and never rub even with kids or my wife on the back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm probably going to move up to 20 inch. Yours looks less bad that some of the others with 6 inch lift and stock rims. I think the precedent body makes wheels look smaller than some of the other models.

Depends on the lift but some of them won’t allow the 8” wheel normally used with 18” tires. Usually a min 10” is required.

One thing to watch with a smaller lift and large tires is turning radius. The tires may rub the frame when trying to make sharp turns. Usually need at least a 4" lift to clear 23" tires.
