Mine is cracked in two places, not much luck with finding a replacement. Talking to a welder tomorrow.

check this out fellas.... for real, no joke. Yamaha part number JN6-SKIDP-LA-TE. I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD!!! this is real, it bolts right on (used on some U-MAXs). its a steel guard to protect the bottom of the diff. i have sold these to some of the "course maintaince" guys when i fixed their stuff with some of the ideas above. i did not scam them, they wanted ANY option over a new ($1600 then) axle assy.

Yamaha says the part is obsolete After I hit a rock and bent the edge of the cover causing a leak, I got a skid plate from Jakes. Cheap--more or less--insurance.

Sounds like a good idea on the skid plate. Still looking at options. Doing a frame off resto, this has been my biggest issue so far!

These are pictures after a stretch 6 pasanger (church group) rental. WHAT were they doing with this car? They not only destroyed the transaxle, but they managed to shear off all 4 motor mount bolts also Oh well, it just adds alot of money to there rental bill.

Haven't sent the repair bill yet, but they new something happened because it was parked away from all the other cars when they got picked up. Some church member is going to get "spanked"
